ROOTS ENSEMBLE

ROOTS
a journey into the spiritual landscape of Eastern European Ancestors.

With hypnotic mallets, drums, synthesizers, and piercing vocals, the band creates a sound of symphonic grandeur. At times, they take on a heroic intensity; at other times, they explore raw, almost brutal expressive power, while simultaneously embracing a delicate, moving subtlety that brings out the emotional depth of these ancient songs — pulsating, multidimensional, and deeply immersive

’’ The idea of presenting old melodies in a new guise is not entirely new at the moment (…) However, the version by Kasia Kadłubowska and her ensemble was a highlight for me, simply because of its complexity, coherence, depth, and focus.’’

Holger Zimmer, broadcasting journalist for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, after the debut concert at Konzerthaus Berlin on 18.01.2025.

ROOTS Ensemble reimagines traditional songs from Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus alongside original compositions.
Blending ancient vocal traditions with experimental pop, free improvisation, and contemporary sound esthetics, ROOTS is meant to be a bridge between dissapearing past and the future growing out of it. It carries forward the beauty preserved through generations, reshaped through Kasia’s band, and her own voice,: grounded, open, borderless.
